The objective of this course is to explore different methods, approaches and strategies for teaching English as a foreign language in schools across Djibouti regions. The pre-service teachers have the opportunities to learn about different nations specially the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), Grammar Translation Techniques (GTM) and Total Physical Response (TPR) , which are the three main methods/approaches used in the foreign language classrooms studied and many more. In regards to the language teaching used, the activities conducted at the primary level were limited and short, while at the secondary level, a more diverse range of activities was found. Many of the activities at the secondary level offered students more opportunities to communicate and use the language. In addition, high school activities appeared to be longer and more complex than those in primary schools.

This is a full academic year thaught course.
